Basic Smoothie Recipe


  • 1 cup non-dairy milk:  unsweetened almond, hemp or coconut milk
  • 1 cup fruit: any type of berry or mix it up (1/2 cup berries and ½ cup banana, green apple, pear or pineapple)
  • 1 handful greens:  baby spinach, baby kale, spring lettuce mix,or romaine lettuce
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • Healthy fat: ¼ to ½ avocado, 1 tablespoon unrefined organic virgin coconut oil, flaxoil, chia seeds or ground flaxseeds


Put all ingredients in the blender and mix.  If you don’t have a high speed blender, you may have to stop the blender and push/mix things around with spoon or spatula a couple of times.  Add a little extra milk or water if too thick.

Not sure what kind ofprotein powder to use?
Sun Warrior, Vega One and Garden of Life make some great options. There are lots of them out there and prices vary. Read the label and go for plant based, non-GMO, gluten and sugar free.  You usually need to go to Whole Foods or a health food store to purchase, but some regular grocery stores like Big Y and drug stores like Walgreens carry a few of the major brands.
